A significant share of bearing damage comes from improper installation. Preparation: verify designation, clearance group and fits; check shaft and housing geometry and roughness; keep the environment clean and never wash out factory grease from sealed bearings. Mounting: induction-heat inner rings to 80–100℃ for shrink fits — never open flame or hammer blows through the rolling elements; adjust tapered-bore bearings by residual clearance with a feeler gauge; set preload on paired angular contact bearings. Dismount with pullers bearing on the inner-ring face, assisted by induction heating where fitted. After mounting, rotate by hand and monitor temperature and vibration during a no-load run-in.
